Awake O soul and sing your song aloud
For winter’s done and greener days are here
The brightness of the season now abounds
Breaks cold and freezing spirits into cheer
The carnations in vibrant hues tempt me
So do the daffodils yellow and bright;
With hints of red, the rosebuds strain to sing
To celebrate the seasons’ changing sight
The windows spring wide open. Scenes of green
Revive the numb with chimes of waking call
The weary heart rejoices with the trees
No more to hibernate within four walls
Oh winter, fear not, I am not alone
It's springtime now, and you have brought me home.
